Manual HR workflows. Inaccurate data. Limited visibility into employee engagement and retention.
These are a few of the challenges that make it difficult for growing organizations to operate efficiently and harder for teams to focus on the work that moves the business forward.
For ecosio, a B2B integration provider with more than 200 employees across three European locations, a lightweight HR system was no longer enough. The company needed a scalable platform that could reduce administrative work, connect workflows across the business, and provide clearer insight into its people data.
HiBob gave ecosio a more connected foundation for managing growth.
Nucleus Research found that ecosio achieved 706 percent ROI after implementing HiBob, with a payback period of just 2.3 months.
The results:
- 706 percent ROI over three years
- 2.3-month payback period
- 60-day implementation
- 75 percent reduction in payroll-processing time
- €302,400 in annual avoided costs from additional people operations headcount
Nucleus Research’s 2025 ROI case study explores how ecosio used HiBob to automate key HR processes, support growth, and improve visibility into employee sentiment.

How HiBob helped ecosio automate HR operations
Before HiBob, ecosio relied on manual, email-heavy processes for payroll, onboarding, performance cycles, and compensation reviews. The company’s existing system was used primarily for time tracking, leaving the people operations team to manage many core processes manually.
HiBob helped ecosio connect its HR workflows with systems used by IT, finance, payroll, and workplace management.
More efficient payroll processing
Payroll previously required two people operations team members to spend eight days each month processing and checking time data. Improved data accuracy and synchronization through HiBob’s Payroll Hub reduced payroll time by 75 percent, resulting in €29,720 in annual cost savings, according to Nucleus Research.
Faster onboarding and contract processing
The impact on onboarding was equally significant. Before HiBob, processing a new-hire contract took five to eight full days of work. With automated workflows, the process now takes about 15 minutes per new hire.
“We’ve created API connections between our internal systems, so tickets are created automatically for new hires from the moment they are in the system.”
— People Operations Team Lead
As ecosio grew by more than 110 employees after going live with HiBob, it avoided hiring at least four additional people operations team members to manage the increased workload. Nucleus Research calculated those avoided costs at €302,400 annually.
Better visibility into employee engagement
Operational efficiency was only part of the impact. Before HiBob, ecosio had limited access to the engagement surveys and analytics needed to understand retention and employee sentiment.
With HiBob, the people operations team gained visibility into promoters, passive employees, and detractors, giving them a clearer view of where they could take action.
The results were measurable:
- Employee retention increased from approximately 85 to nearly 93 percent
- eNPS rose from 54 to 75 in one year
- The share of detractors fell from 10.6 to 0.7 percent
For ecosio, better HR data meant more than stronger reporting. It meant understanding the employee experience and acting with greater confidence as the organization grew.
